Sea Vegetables for Radiant Health

By Aprildangelo On August 28, 2009 3 Comments

Sea vegetables grow in the mineral-rich brine of the ocean and transform its fifty-six known minerals, including calcium, iodine, iron, potassium, and magnesium into nutrients that we can assimilate.  The beautiful fact is sea vegetables contain ten to twenty times more minerals than land grown plants do.  Their abundant mineral content makes them a perfect element to add to anyone’s diet who is desiring to achieve vibrant health.

Sea vegetables offer so many wonderful benefits to human health.  They increase metabolism , purify blood, improve joint flexibility, help break down fat, and help heal mucous membranes.  They are naturally alkalinizing, anti fungal, antibacterial, and antiviral.  They also strengthen and beautify skin and hair.

In addition sea vegetables contain alginic acid, a compound that binds in the body with heavy metals, environmental toxins, and other chemicals, and then carries them from the body through the stools.

Lets face it, who couldn’t benefit from adding this element to their diet?

What IS DNA Health and Alpha Lipoic Acid (ALA)

By Aprildangelo On August 28, 2009 No Comments

Lets face it, some things, although we may have never heard of them, are so vital to our existence and our radiant existence at that.  It’s a wonder that we carry on through life never even knowing about them.

Lets take a moment to recognize the absolute awesomeness of our own DNA. The building blocks of our life.

“A three-hundred-billion base sequence!”  “A unique program perfectly adapted to each aspect of our race- making up the human genomic code….”  “The instruction set that carries each person from one-cell egg to adulthood…”  “Ten times two-point-four times ten to the ninth power possible sequences of nucleotides,”  “…all of which would lead to complete biological malfunction.”  “Except for this very one.”  “The human construction book, or an instructional manual if you like…”

Imagine if you will you are holding up a DNA fiber in your fingers,…  “Amazing-two millionths of a millimeter thick.”  “Yet the amount of information contained within it is so immense that in the case of human DNA, if the tightly coiled strands inside a human adult were unwound and stretched out straight, they would cover the distance from earth to to the moon a half a million times!”  “And when coiled, all the strands could fit inside a tiny receptacle the size of a teaspoon.”

Now lets talk alpha lipoic acid.  Besides the fact that our bodies require alpha lipoic acid to produce energy and also plays a crucial role in the mitochondria, our cellular energy-producing structures.  Foods contain only tiny amounts of it, so supplementation may be beneficial.  ALA is very unique compared to other forms of antioxidants because of its versatility-it helps deactivate a wide array of cell-damaging free radicals in many bodily systems.

What many scientists consider the most important benefit of ALA to be is it’s protection of the body’s mitochondria and DNA.  It’s nice to know we can help out the health of our DNA.  As we age, mitochondrial function is impaired, and this may be an important contributor to some of the adverse affects of aging.

Easy to follow instructions for maintaining healthy eating habits.

I have often heard people talking about what diet is correct for their  unique body type.   Or “How do I lose weight ?”  or what about just maintaining a healthy weight.

Here is the most complete blueprint for anyone to achieve and maintain a healthy eating routine.  This is amazingly healthy for our bodies from the inside out.  And it will be obvious from the outside in.

  • Eat only the foods God has created
  • Eat foods in a form that is healthy for our bodies
  • Consume protein, fat, and veggies before starchy carbohydrates or sweet desserts at mealtime
  • take a deep breath when your plate is half eaten and ask yourself if you’re still hungry
  • drink six to eight or more glasses of pure water per day
  • drink eight ounces of water whenever you feel hungry
  • drink one to three cups of hot tea blends each day to provide extra antioxidant protection and maintain a healthy weight
  • consume at least one snack per day( whole food bar or smoothie) containing beta glucans from soluble oat fiber.  This promotes good digestion, helps lower elevated cholesterol and triglycerides,  maintains healthy blood sugar levels, supports immune system functions, and maintains healthy body weight.
  • partially fast one day per week

Slow Food Movement

By Aprildangelo On August 27, 2009 No Comments

“slow food movement”

How do you feel about fast food?  Have you ever stopped to think about the journey that burger made just to get to the dollar menu.  Fast food has never been accused of Slow Foodbeing too healthy…  In fact, when you pay attention you realize; it’s quit the contrary. For you and the environment.

Slow Food, begun in Italy as a counter movement to the fast food culture, is raising awareness about how what we eat affects us and our environment. The Slow Food movement believes in rekindling interest in fresh foods, farmers, community, and food culture.

As stated in their mission “By reawakening and training their senses, Slow Food helps people rediscover the joys of eating and understand  the importance of caring where their food comes from, who makes it and how its made.”

Learn to savor the meals you prepare, eat locally grown and produced foods, participate in your local food community.  Follow this path and you too could become a Slow Foodie.  To find out more about the Slow Food Movement go to www.SlowFood.com
