I am a very outspoken person, if I don’t like something I blurt it out in the open. It’s very important to stand for what you actually believe in. Going with the flow is always the safest route to go, but it’s also cowardice to just conform rather than really standing up and taking positive action for what’s right and just.
What Do You Stand For?
Reflecting on What really Matters
As a leader, a friend, or simply an individual forging your way through life. It is important to know and define what it is you stand for.
This matters because it is reflected in every choice you make. It leaves a trail of your reputation but more importantly it reveals your character and who you really are.
Deciding what you stand for helps you to see where it is you are going. Thus eliminating all the “neat stuff” that isn’t going to get you there. And bringing into focus the things that are.
This will help you simplify and manage your daily expectations. And ultimately release you to be more productive with the time you are given.
Having that willing attitude to “do whatever it takes” but also having the class not to lower your standards to achieve your goals. Knowing there is a cost and a reward for those who do not compromise. You can’t stand for something and please everyone at the same time.
Do you really think it’s possible to be the high out-put, available at all hours, work smart, life in balance, always do what your told, always do it right, guy. I don’t think so. You have to know which one of those is you. You can’t be available all the time, to everyone in your business, up all night, and still achieve the balance in your health and family time.
When you know what you stand for it’s easy to make difficult decisions. Like when to say “yes” and when to say “no”. There are really a lot of benefits to this because you know your target and the lines outside it are easy to define.
When you stand for something it creates trust between you and others and ultimately gives you more credibility. It also helps your team to see the vision and makes the mission more exciting for them as well. People like having purpose and reasons greater than themselves to work toward.
Opportunities will always arise for us to do the right thing or take the easy or cheaper way out. These are the moments that count, the moments when greatness is born. Its not always cost effective to stand up for something, I mean really; someone might not like it. You might appear to be going against the flow of the masses.
Make a positive impact.
Do yourself and everybody else a favor. Remember what really matters. And stand for that.
Can I get a “FREEEEEEDDDDDDDDDOOOOMMMM!”
